14º metal seal
OCTL
This metal seal is created by radial interference and is rated to the API minimum collapse pressure rating for the pipe. The adjacent 900 surfaces do not shoulder.

Two-step thread design
This nontapered noninterference thread form minimizes galling and thread-generated stresses.

14º reverse-angle torque shoulder
This torque shoulder positions the pin and box and receives over 80% of the applied makeup torque. The shoulder is also the compressive load-carrying element.

14º metal seal
This metal seal is created by radial interference and is rated to the API minimum internal yield pressure rating for the pipe

Formed pin and box members
The pin end is swaged inward and bored to ensure proper pin nose seal geometry and guarantees higher tension efficiency without restricting its driftability. The box is expanded and machined to a finished OD, which allows higher tension and pressure sealing efficiencies. This forming is done at ambient temperatures, prior to threading, and the affected regions are then stress relieved by induction heating.
