30º torque
shoulder and metal seal
|
 |
| This external
torque shoulder ensures the pin and box are exactly positioned and
allows the application of more-than-adequate torque to prevent downhole
backoff. The 300 shoulder surface also creates a pressure seal capable
of resisting the API internal pressure rating of the pipe.
|
| |
| Center –
step torque shoulder |
| This shoulder
performs as an additional torque shoulder, storing a small amount
of torque and helping to prevent overmakeup.
|
| |
| Two-step thread
design |
| This nontapered,
noninterference thread form minimizes galling and thread-generated
stresses.
|
| |
| 14º metal
seal |
| This
seal element is created by radial interference and is capable of
resisting the API internal pressure rating the pipe. The 140 angle
minimizes rubbing between the elements, which minimizes the possibility
of galling and wear.

| Streamlined upset OD and ID |
| This connector
is machined on a streamlined upset for extra clearance. The ID of
the pin end is cold formed prior to machining and is machine bored
to pass API drift.
