OCTL
Sleeve Stabilizer consists of Mandrel
on which a Sleeve is simply made up by
tongs or sleeve breaker. The OCTL Sleeve
Stabilizer provides easy sleeve replacement
when changing hole size or when they are
worn out of gage.
The Mandrel is made from
AISI 4140/ 4145H modified alloy steel,
fully heat treated to a Brinell Hardness
range of 285 – 341 and has an IZOD
impact strength of minimum 40 ft-lbs.
The connections are machined and finished
according to API Specifications. Thread
roots are cold rolled after machining,
phosphatized to prevent galling during
initial make-up, and installed with pressed
steel thread protectors.
The Mandrel is a one-piece
design with ample tong space for handling
and extra length for recutting connections.
The central upset allows several center
joint reconditionings.
The Sleeve is an integral
casting designed for easy make-up to the
Mandrel. Hardfacing of the blades of the
sleeves is done to increase the tool life.
OCTL offers a range of Hardfacing materials
to suit different drilling conditions.
Sizes 17 1/2" and smaller feature
three spiral blades. Larger sizes have
four straight blades. Annular flow area
is maximized on all sizes to ensure adequate
circulation area.
